<Picturesque>
While traditional concept of landscape implies natural scenery consists the work of God or mother nature, the idea behind <Picturesque> is an alternative landscape that I find along my wandering in the urban-scape of Hong Kong - sometimes a mural on public wall, a colour fading poster, a heavily decorated interior or even just a picture being hanged on an interior wall. Most of the time, this "scene within another scene" reflects what we are missing in life, a desire or a picture in mind that someone wants to go or to achieve. To me, photography is an art form based on the observation of our society and I find this subject fascinating as a symbol on why people struggle so hard in life.
"Landscapes can be deceptive. Sometimes a landscape seems to be less a setting for the life of its inhabitants than a curtain behind which their struggles, achievements and accidents takes place. For those who are behind the curtain, landmarks are no longer only geographic but also biographical and personal.” - John Berger
